2025 EDITS Annual Meeting, "High with Low: what works?"

2025 EDITS Annual Meeting, "High with Low: what works?"

Outcomes

In 2025 EDITS annual meeting focuses on evaluating and quantifying the co-benefits of low energy demand and wellbeing, progresses on conceptualization and showcasing decent mobility solutions, and goes deeper into assessing real-life demand-side actions and diffusion patterns. The Model Complementarity Exercise (MCE) is rounding off its first round involving transport models, and while the group will use the in-person Annual Meeting to complete its activities, the new team on buildings scenarios will hold their MCE. This EDITS annual meeting is a fundamental basis for the collaborative research and modeling, and the following key themes have been selected.

  • (1) setting-up for contributions to IPCC and wider scientific arena
  • (2) strengthening demand-scenarios and progressing with the model complementarity
  • (3) understanding and assessing real life examples and policies

The annual meeting started with a plenary session, providing many opportunities for in-depth discussion, dialogue, and connection. At the same time, sector-focused working groups and side events facilitated efforts to achieve fast-paced results and impact.

The meeting was attended by a total of 95 people, including 85 in person and 10 online, from 20 countries (e.g.the United States, Germany, India, Portugal, France, Austria, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Brazil, South Korea, China, Thailand, and Hungary) and 43 institutions, and included modelers, social scientists, economists, engineers, and other professionals from a variety of fields.
