Core technologies

Our group placed three technologies as "core technologies" for research and development, which are application of "Corynebacterium glutamicum", "metabolic engineering" and "growth-arrested bioproduction".

C. glutamicum is a well-known microorganism useful for industrial production of amino acids and organic acids. Our group has reported the complete genome sequence of C. glutamicum strain R. The genomic information plays an essential role in the improvement of metabolic pathways and the metabolic control analysis. By performing a growth-arrested bioprocess using a C. glutamicum strain having an optimum metabolic pathway, high productivity can be achieved.

Utilizing these core technologies, research and development for the practical biorefinery has been carried out.
