COURSE50 Step2

Between 2008 and 2012 we conducted a project that focused on capturing CO2 in the steel-making industry (COURSE 50). Through this project we achieved our target of capturing CO2 while decreasing energy consumption to 2.0 GJ/t-CO2. Moreover, we developed absorbents that enabled CO2 regeneration at temperatures <100°C, considerably lower than the conventional regeneration temperature of 120°C.

Starting in 2013 and intending to finish in 2017, we are conducting a follow-up project (COURSE 50 Step 2) where we will develop high-performance absorbents that decrease the cost of capturing CO2 in the steel-making industry.
