ABSTRACT

Object

The object is the development of the aftertreatment device which reduces both NOx and PM and keeps the increase in CO2 to a minimum by use of PM for deoxidizer.

Following subjects are investigated.

・Development of a reaction device which oxidizes NOx to NO2 using oxidation catalyst.

・Development of a device what pressure loss is low in the case that accumulated PM is much and the reaction rate of PM and NOx is high at lower temperature.

・Development of the coating technology of the catalyst which deoxidizes products from PM and NO2.

Goals

・The minimum temperature is lower than 350?at which PM starts to burn

・The efficiency of NOx deoxidation is over 20%

Results

(1) Development of the producing technology of the full-size device

・The manufacturing condition that realizes the zeolite powder containing much metal was established.

・The coating technology of the catalyst for NOx deoxidation on the porous metal was established.

・The efficiencies of the oxidation of NO, the burning velocity of PM, and the deoxidation of NOx, were confirmed, and the designing technology of the devices was established.

(2) Evaluation of the full-size device by using an engine dynamo

By the evaluation of the full-size device of PM burning while NOx is deoxidized, it was confirmed that the goals for this development were achieved as follows;

・The minimum temperature is 300?at which PM starts to burn.

・The efficiency of NOx deoxidation is 21% in the engine condition of full-power.

・Evaluation of the durability of the device

・Development of the control system of the combination with various classes of engines

・Reducing the price and size of the device
