UNFCCC official side event at Japan Pavilion for COP25 in Madrid, Spain

UNFCCC official side event at Japan Pavilion for COP25 in Madrid, Spain

Outcomes

We, RITE, have been evaluating the economic impact of Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of Paris Agreement and international competitiveness in partnership with Resources for the Future (RFF), scientifically .

We presented results of our research at the side event of COP25.

Domestic Climate Policy and International Competitiveness (Japan Pavilion)

The Paris Agreement requires all parties to increase their ambitions continuously. There are large emission gaps between NDCs and the long-term goals such as the 2℃ goal. The world with low greenhouse gas emission should be achieved through the implementation of the effective several frameworks including the Paris Agreement, and each party's efforts for innovation under the international coordination of climate response measures and other policies. This side event featured the evaluations of NDCs and other policies as well as the related challenging issues, and discussed the related international agenda.
