NEDO project: “Dehydrogenation using H2-permselective membranes”

This project for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) started in 2013 and was transferred to NEDO in 2014. We are collaborating with the Chiyoda Corporation to develop a membrane reactor (MR) system for the production and separation of H2 from an H2-carrier, methylcyclohexane. In comparison with conventional H2-generation systems, the proposed MR system would be smaller and have a lower operating temperature. Currently, we are endeavoring to fabricate elongated silica membranes, which are prepared using the counter-diffusion chemical vapor deposition method, and are investigating technical issues related to the proposed MR system.
