Metagenome technology extracts DNA directly from environmental samples and amplifies target genes using PCR. Examples of the technology include analyses on a heterotrophic DNA mixture from a specific ecosystem, and more specific microbiological community analyses in conjunction with proteome analysis.  Our research group is currently investigating ecology of subterranean microorganisms from oil/natural gas wells.
